I've been going through the What's New portion of the software and must say
that I, yes even I the cynical critic, feel that this will be the best
release we have had from SolidWorks in some time. It seems that they are
really listening to the users and making the features more robust. It has a
more mature overall feel. I have yet to do real day to day work with it, but
from what I've seen this should be a well received release.
(No, I didn't get a job at SW or a reseller, nor am I now paid for my
    opinion.)

    Way to go Solidworks!

  2. I don't have the luxury to install the Beta on a separate machine. Are
there any issues with installing it on my production machine in a new
    folder?

  4. Wayne,
I'm certainly not one to suppress free speech, but the beta agreement makes
it pretty clear that you shouldn't talk about it here.

There is a discussion group for questions like that.

    Hi,

How can I get my hands on SolidWorks 2005 Beta 1? I am currently residing in
    Melbourne Australia.

  7. Oops, first time on this program. I found the proper area and the question
    has already been asked.

Depends on what work you do but at last SW have made a decent effort to
bring us a comprehensive set of functional tools rather than a few tokens
here and there. Kind of surprised me - just when I was writing them off and
looking elsewhere. Some users might be disappointed that their special
interest has minimal improvements however. No doubt there will be a lot for
them next time now that the overdue stuff is done.Like what I see so far.

Not only did I find some issues, but the app used to report them crashed!
