Solidedge vs Solidworks big difference?

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Robin Boudreault, Dec 5, 2003.

  1. I bought SW a couple of year ago and I'm doing contract with it and I'm
happy. An old client called me and he is impressed by the included
machinery handbook of SE (He had a demo). Somepeople told me that SE don't
have any big change from r11 to r14. Do somebody know if we can tell that
there is a good difference between both softwares of they are just slightly
different and around the same level?

  2. SE has no configuration capabilities, must move to UG with "fusion" or
    "fision" technology for that.

Actually it does, it is just called "Family of Parts" and "Family of
Assemblies". That is the problem with feature to feature comparisons.
There is often more than one way to "skin a cat", and even if it is the same
method, the features used typically have different names.

The only way that you will ever know is to look at it personally. Arrange
to have a V15 demo of Solid Edge done, or order an eval copy. When
comparing it to Solid Works, compare it based on performing a workflow
rather than a feature to feature comparison, as they are never very useful.
