Does anyone one have an idea of average payrate for a SW designer? It
seems like it is becoming more like AutoCad since there are so many
users saturating the job market now. What do you guys think?

If you are advertising yourself as the averge designer, then canvass
the users at the local user group.

If you are good at solving tough design issues faster than the average
bloke, with great tech. skills, then Sell Yourself on Your Merits.

    thestew,

I quote you saying, "...so many [SolidWorks] users [are] saturating
    the job market now. "

What planet is this comment from? From my own hiring experience
recently, it's hard it is to find SW users that aren't already working
in jobs they aren't particular interested in leaving.

Would you say 55K a year is to high for a SW user w/ 3 years
    experience?

    Is that US dollars?
If so, then NO, I would expect more than that.

Some firms are really tight!, lol :p

  8. It varies so much by area, Newark NJ has a lot different cost of
living than Timbucktoo. Salary surveys mean so little...
The key is to find a way to telecommute from the sticks!
