Slowdown

We have various versions of AutoCAD some LT2002, and full 2002.

Occasionally, we have major slowdown. When trying to plot, switching layers
    etc.

We can't seem to figure out what the problem is, wether it is network or CAD
    related.

    Has anyone got any ideas.

    Thanks

If two or more users experience the same slowdown simultaneously, it's most likely the network unless the worlstations are all scheduled to run some process (such as a virus protection system scan or defrag) at the same time. If it only affects individual users at a time, it's most likely not the network but something specific and happening on the workstations. If this is the case, it could be any program running on the workstation at the time causing the slowdown, not just AutoCAD. The virus protection running a system scan in the background mentioned above is a typical cause. If it shows symptoms of being a network issue, this can be caused by all sorts of hardware issues (servers, switches, cabling, NIC cards) or software issues, such as users running large Windows Searches on the network, whicih will suck the life right out of it. Basically, you need to eliminate various possibilities until the solution remains.
