Your CPU speed and memory should be more than adequate for running LT 2002
and even 2004. Most likely the Dell and HP's your seeing have better Video
performance. I see from the IBM's specs it has only 16MB V-Ram. That is
very low considering video cards nowadays are running 256-512 Meg or
    higher.

Laptops are not great when it comes to expansion options. You may see if
IBM has an updated video driver, but I don't think your going to get much
    more out of your IBM.

  2. Our engineers are running AutoCAD LT 2002 & 2004 in IBM laptops. One is
    a T-30, 1.6Mhz, 512K RAM, and the other is a T-41, 1.4Mhz, 256K RAM.
The performance of opening, closing, and generally manupulating
drawings is pathetic. AutoCAD users at our other two plant sites are
reporting similar issues. All are running Windows 2000 Pro. Other
engineering consultants that come through and are running Dell or HP
laptops seem to scream. I do not know what their configurations were
but was wondering if anyone else has
seen this behavior? I know that more RAM would probably help
somewhat, but I think that there may be a bigger issue here.

    Any suggestions would be approciated.

We recently discovered (after several months of frustration) that our
McAfee Enterprize Virus Scan software was causing delays with a number
of AutoCAD 2002 operations. It too several tries for our IT department
to settle on the correct settings to avoid this. (sorry I am not aware
    of all the details)

If the performance is off, this is one possible culprit.
