Step up to true hybrid modeling where solid and surface tools
    are truly transparent.

www.cadchat has established a web forum for VX at my request.

Joe Greco had this to say when he compared SolidWorks, SolidEdge and
Autodesk Inventor in this article published in January 2005:

    http://manufacturing.cadalyst.com/manufacturing/article/articleDetail.jsp?id
    =141036&pageID=4

"They all also lack integrated reverse engineering and manufacturing tools,
and while third-party vendors fill in here, none offers its own total
art-to-part solution. One program that does, VX CAD/CAM...."

Download VX and it's training manuals at:

    www.vx.com

The downloadable VX training manuals cover:

    Introductory Tutorial: 58 pages.

    CAD Fundamentals: 530 pages.

    Mold And Die: 156 pages.

    Advanced Modeling: 125 pages.

    CAM Fundamentals: 235 pages.

    Quick Mill: 125 pages.

There is also a video overview of VX that shows some of
the incredible power of this product that can be downloaded
    as well :

    It's called VX QuickStart

After you have downloaded VX stop by www.cadchat and check out the
    brand new VX Forum.

Need some new ads, blurbs & buzzwords, do you?

You ever going to actually learn to use anything to
do anything? Or find out what the words actually mean?

you poor, lonely soul. why are we (you and i) not in a bar somewhere
drinking beer together? this is far too depressing. jon posting
propaganda on the newsgroups on a saturday. i, bob z., can no longer
tolerate jon spending his time on these newsgroups on saturdays! don't
you have a family? a real hobby? bob z. thought he was the only one that
was wasting his life at a computer all day and all night...

    ....(clip)...

Wonder how much the different modules cost? There seems to be a
discrepancy between what products/modules are shown under Products ->
Why VX CAD/CAM and what is shown under the FAQs. At least, it's not
very clear and certainly there are no prices listed . . . not that it's
any surprise. It doesn't seem that any CAD or CAM companies list the
costs of their products -- perhaps because they differ from one country
to another, but probably more because they don't want people comparing
    things on price alone.

VX End To End is the top of the line package. If you were at IMTS last
year you could have purchased VX End To End (normally about $10,000)
for $2,000.... that inclued full CAM (5 axis simultaneous mill)

I think just the high end CAD part can be had for $4,000 or less from
a VAR.... same as mediocre CAD. Every VAR has descression just
like with SolidWorks or Inventor. So....why settle for mediocre CAD ?

BTW, I started a specific tool thread on CAD Chat in the VX Forum
and named a specific tool in VX and why I like it and what it does and
    how it works.

Why don't you counter with what tool SolidWorks has to do the
same things and how it works ?

    Jon
according to your post, I can download VX, where , I can not see it?
The training manuals, yes, but not VX.
I read your post and I thought I would have a go with VX this weekend, but I
was really dissapointed, not to find a download link.

I noticed that that installation does not include the documentation, is that
referring to the tutorials and help files?

    I got the link working.
Well I now have VX on my PC and I must say, it's looks weird, lol.
I keep looking for the Solidworks icons to draw something, doh!
This not slagging it off, as I remember the same thing when I went from
    Autocad to Solidworks.
One thing I did notice, is that the sheet metal is greyed out, and I use
    sheetmetal a lot :-(
What VX package would give me the same full functionality as Solidworks 2005
office professional and at what price, (UK pounds, not US dollars)?

VX does not have the slick UI that SolidWorks or Inventor have.... it's
not even close. SolidWorks and Inventor easily win but what VX does have
is a better, faster and smoother approach to modeling because the
underlying tools are more powerful and better integrated. It's easy to get
use to VX's UI. It's impossible for many to live with SolidWorks modeling
    limitations.

Do the tutorials and compare the VX approach to modeling with
SolidWorks. If you don't like something by all means please point out
a specific of what you like better in SolidWorks or in ? I'd like to hear
    it.

    VX's sheet metal package:

I'm not a sheet metal guy. So can't offer any help there.

    Pricing in the UK:

I'm not a VX VAR and I have never sold CAD/CAM software so I can't
answer your questions except to comment on what has happened in the U.S.
price wise and perhaps point out someone who sells VX in the U.S.
    Sorry.

I can assure you of this.... you or anyone else won't be sorry spending the
time learning VX as it will give you an idea of how I and others believe
integration between solids and surfaces should be.

I hope you enjoy learning VX as much as I have and hope you will
post about your experiences both here and on the new VX Forum
    at www.cadchat.com

    You seem confused.

Spelling checker problems again? LOL ....
Like something that does the job & works?

I note that you refused to answer on those tolerance & translation
    issues. No clues, as usual?
Did you even know what the words were?
Been banned yet? How long do you think that it will take this time?

He missed all of that too?
    And that?
    And that?
I expect that jb will provide free support, right?

BTW, with so little documentation, how much would
you expect that it can actually do? Compared to systems
with thousands of pages of documentation and gigabytes
    of files to install?

What size is the install and how does it compare to SW
    & suchlike?
That would probably be a very telling point, IMHO.

Umm, the documentation is reasonably good, actually. About a foot high
stack of printed manuals. The same available in PDF. IIRC you can download
the doc in electronic form from the website (even if you're not a buyer), as
well as some opening tutorials (they're a little too hyped for my taste, but
    they're there).
The zipped program files only are around 100 megs.
