Showing a striped wire

Discussion in 'SolidWorks' started by Rich Montminy, Sep 29, 2004.

  1. Anyone willing to share a simple technique for showing a striped wire
in an assembly? Routing solid color wires is fairly straight forward
but how could I show a green w/ yellow striped wire in an assembly
model to drive a shaded view in a drawing?

One idea could be to sweep some very small "microcuts" along the wire to
divide the surface and then add colors to the different sections. Depends a
little on how You swept the cable from start.

  4. I divided the sweep profile to create a surface (the stripe) that I
could select and assign a different color to. Worked great! Looks
like Krister had the same idea. Thanks.

You might want to use the new 2005 sweep option "Twist Along Path" to
    make the stripe twist.
