GSSL now owns 100 percent of Teksoft. For years they have also made CAM
    system toolpath engines.

In regards to the orignial poster who asked if he should by
    Solidworks...

    No !

  3. Ken,

I should clarify, Solidworks owns the copyright and has Patents
Pending. GSSL licenses and sells their component technology to other
vendors, correct to some degree. For instance, FeatureWorks, I
believe(before you jump all over me) is a GSSL technology licensed for
Solidworks and other packages, from what I hear. None of the
copyrights for Edrawings shows GSSL's name either. I wasn't trying to
"prove" anything, I was trying to explain what I believe and add to the
discussion, just as what you mentioned you "believed". I wasn't trying
to be an a**, my apologies if it came across that way. Thanks.

Jon and Cliff reuniting on my post? What a good sign indeed.

I should have started asking questions sooner, got a big project now,
end of year and everything else kept me from luring out more info. But
really only one way to find out for sure. And all it takes is time and
money. I got plenty of both. Certainly know those who wouldn't think
of spending money for anything work related, who have neither of
    either.

    Hardly, I expect.
    But 1 CAD/CAM system > 1 CAD + 1 CAM + translation
& upkeep & training costs, IMHO.....
Which one depends on your customers, vendors, skillset,
needed capabilities, what you've used before, who will be
there as your vendor (if anyone) in 5 years, etc.
