Sharing PC3 files not saving

    Hello,

I am sharing pc3 files on a server share that everyone has read/write access to and have setup all AutoCad 2002 desktops to point the Printer Configuration Search path to this share.

I setup a bunch of plotters with d and e size checks, etc..

However, it seems that settings are not being saved a each workstation. They can be changed but are not really shared.

    Am I missing something?
    What gives?

    TYIA for you help!

  2. Maybe the culprit is in different OS.
Each Operating System (OS) needs its own pc3 file.

You write "not being saved" and "not really shared".
If they are not saved - check user rights.
If they are not shared - check settings on server.

You let all users create their own pc3 files?
Gets really messy, i create the pc3 files and they are read-only shared for
    the users.
That way i'm in control of what's going on and how drawings are printed.

    Hope it helps.

We are running 2000 and XP, is that a problem?
We have to have separate pc3 files for each OS?
If they are not saved - check user rights.
If they are not shared - check settings on server.<<

    The user rights are correct.
They are shared but the share settings are not showing up on the individual workstations.

<<You let all users create their own pc3 files?
Gets really messy, i create the pc3 files and they are read-only shared for the users.>>
That is what I have done but the settings are not on the desktops.

I am checking the OS issue.

    Thanks!

  4. 2000 and XP, not a real perfect combination.
I've got here 2002 and XP together with 2002 and win98se, no problems.
I did have to make different files for win98 and XP, made also different
    profiles.
Sometimes it's not enough to share the folder but also mention it in
    Tools-options-files-psfp.
And sometimes \\server\searchpath just won't work, instead create a drive
numer to connect to like: k:\searchpath
Therefore i created a shared folder named: companyname2002 (referring to
autocad 2002) and this folder is connected to each computer as a drive.
In subfolders are all our customized menu's, program's, pc3 files etc.
    stored.
As soon as we are going to a new version of autocad, a new folder is created
like: companyname2005 and converted menu's, progs etc are stored there.
    Works like a charm.

2000 is really outdated by now.
In this i do not mean that the files are read-only but the folder is setup
thus that all users except me have read-only access.
I'm the only one that can change the files.
If you make the files read-only You can't change them either.
    ????????

I hope i've been some help here.

Will the PC3 created on, say English Win XP, work on any language Win XP?
Is that true for all OS?
I just want to ask if PC3 files are language (OS language and AutoCAD
    language) independent.

Just to clarify we are running the OS's 2000 and XP and AutoCAD 2002 (on all machines)
I have never had a problem running 2000 and XP in the same network.
    Tools-options-files-psfp.
And sometimes \\server\searchpath just won't work, instead create a drive
numer to connect to like: k:\searchpath<
    We have already done that.
