Are there any quick methods of selecting all the blocks of a
    particular name in a drawing?

    Thanks!

Try the "filter" command and use Previous at the select prompt.

  4. If you are using 2002 or later, use the "Quick select" command. Its
available at the object properties area, appering as a tool button with a
funnel icon. Its the most powerful selection tool I've ever used. There are
many options and possibilities. You could search all objects to filter and
select blocks named <blockname>; the results are the current selection set
    to be operated on.
