seeking info on printers/plotters

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by John Rollings, Nov 26, 2003.

  1. I am searching for an affordable printer/plotter for B size AutoCAD plots
and have found an HP DeskJet 9650 at Staples which retails for $599.90
    ($CDN).
Anybody know of any problems with using this for Autocad plots? Any other
plotters in that same price range?

    cheers,
    John

  2. I have the HP DeskJet 1220C and DesignJet 330E (and have had other HP
printers & plotters in the past). The only problem I've ever had with the
DeskJet's is that they tend to print any line that isn't vertical/horizontal
at a little different weight. (i.e. diagonal lines print thicker than
    horizontal/vertical lines).

I've asked some of my clients and none of them even noticed it, nor care. I
notice it, and use my plotter (because it doesn't have this problem) as much
as possible but 11x17 is still a nice size (especially since my copier
handles 11x17 - makes running sets a breeze).

Maybe the newer DeskJets don't have this problem? Just something to be
    aware of.
