SCSI??

    Following up on the previous hardware thread . . .

    I have been using SCSI since 1996 - I am up to Ultra320 now.
    I can do file transfers that pretty much confirm the advertised data
    rate, which is impressive - but I am not at all convinced that I am
    getting improved performance on my CAD workstation, compared with what
    people are getting from their Ultra-ATA and (s)ATA drives.

    At the outset, I felt SCSI was a sound architectural choice for a
    professional system, and I have stuck with it. But if someone were to
    ask me today, I would probably tell them not to waste their money on
    SCSI - at least for this type of application.

    I only half listen in on other people's conversations but they have put me
    under the impression that at this stage you shouldn't be getting an
    improvement, no.
    1996 it was.
    Seems to be the deal.
