Following up on the previous hardware thread . . . I have been using SCSI since 1996 - I am up to Ultra320 now. I can do file transfers that pretty much confirm the advertised data rate, which is impressive - but I am not at all convinced that I am getting improved performance on my CAD workstation, compared with what people are getting from their Ultra-ATA and (s)ATA drives. At the outset, I felt SCSI was a sound architectural choice for a professional system, and I have stuck with it. But if someone were to ask me today, I would probably tell them not to waste their money on SCSI - at least for this type of application. G Faris
