I'm writing simple scripts to create kitchen unit dwgs.
At the end of each I want to select the whole drawing
(_ai_selall) and drop the lot onto the '0' Layer ready for
    saving as a block
How do I drop the selected entities onto the zero layer
within the script rather than doing it manualy as I have been doing

    Thanks in the hope

Blocks made on the zero layer will asume the properties of any layer they
are later entered on to.Those created on their own layer keep those layer
properties whichever layer you move them to.

    can you solve my queiry?

I understand that. That was why I got a little confused when after drawing
all of your features, you wanted to move them to layer 0 then make the
blocks... because it will do just that. Sorry, I figured you were drawing
them on separate layers so you would be able to hold properties. In any
case, check out what Paul suggested.

Just to clear up what I'm doing

The script is creating 3D solid kitchen units and it uses different layers
for the subtracted and remaining composits

On my way to Pauls site now

    Thanks
