Does any one know how to screen a PORTION of a drawing when it is plotted? I have several phases of a job in the same drawing. I want to be able to plot the entire area but have only one phase (area) of the job highlighted with the other phases screened. I'm using AutoCAD 2004 with SurvCadd XML2.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!

  2. I have several phases of a job in the same drawing. I want to be able to
plot the entire area but have only one phase (area) of the job highlighted
with the other phases screened. I'm using AutoCAD 2004 with SurvCadd XML2.
One option would be to do as Dean mentioned except to turn the other phase
colors to gray (screened) rather than freeze them.

One problem with this option is that one may not wish to break some entities
at the phase lines. Another workaround for this would be to something like
    this:

    1. Xref design drawing into a plotting drawing.
    2. Rename the xref to the name of the phase.
    3. Xref the same design drawing again.
    4. Repeat steps 2+3 for each phase.
    5. For a given sheet, create a viewport for the current phase and other
    viewport(s) for non current phase(s).
    6. Synchronize the viewports. (Irregular viewports along with Express tool
for syching viewports is quite handy)
    7. Set the layer colors for the current phase as you normally would, and the
colors for the non-current phases to gray.
    8. In the main viewport, turn on the desired layers from the current phased
xref and vp freeze the other phases.
    9. In the secondary viewports, turn on the other phases, and vpfreeze the
    current phase.

This is a bit involved, but it achieves the desired result while preserving
the integrity of cross phase entities without creating duplicate design
    entities.
