I doubt there is a way to do this, but I'll ask anyway......
I want everything beyond my match line to be screened back. I have drawn an
irregular shaped viewport to follow the match line for the main plan view.
I want to draw another viewport on the other side of the match line that I
can have everything shaded back in to help with plan orientation.
My model space object is an x-reffed plan view of a subdivision.
    Thanks for any help.

  2. You might try xref'ing the model in twice, and xclipping each side of
matchline. 1 xref could be managed from the layer manager to plot all
colors to a screened pen and the other xref to plot as needed.

I am not sure I am following your description exactly, but this sounds like
    it may be an option.

    Good luck

Thanks Paul, but I don't think that will work as I have several layout
sheets in one drawing, and the screened portion will change for each layout.
I was looking for something that would simply let me screen everything in a
    particular viewport, period.
Anyone else out there want to give it a try?

You might know this, but you can xref in the same file twice with a
different xref "name". That will let you control each instance
independantly. For example, xref it in the first time. Then use the xref
dialog to rename the xref "name". Now you can xref it in again. Now each
instance can be controled visually (assuming color bylayer) in the layer
    dialog.

    Enjoy,
    Stef

Use a solid hatch screen over the area outside the matchline - put a
separate on in paperspace for each layout.
