Does anybody know if it is possible to create a postscript of a
schematic with a black background? I usually obtain white sheets with
    colored shapes.

As far as I know, the postscript background is blank, not white. Most
postcript viewers assume white paper, so you get a white background.

If you are using ghostscript, here's a workaround from a colleague:

    -------------- begin inclusion ---------------

Put the following resources in home dir .Xdefaults file:
    ghostscript*background: black
    ghostscript*foreground: white

    unix:> xrdb -merge .Xdefaults
    unix:> gs myplot.ps

This opens the design with black background, similar to VLE with black
    background.

    -------------- end inclusion ---------------
