I am using acad2000 and cannot seem to find a lsp macro that can save
layer states and restore them buy using a txt file for the data, or
better yet, store the data in the dwg file as setvars or something.
All I could find was a macro that writes out to a text file but cannot
    retrieve them.
    Thanks for any help!

  2. I haven't used 2000 in a while but I'm pretty sure saving layer states
is built into the layer manager. Poke around for the export/import
option. Also, get you hand on "express tools." This has an alternate
layer manager with import/export plus a plethera of 'shouldn't be
    without' tools.
