Save Block with rendering data, lighting, etc... as individual entity

I've noticed that when I import a 3DS model into an AutoCAD drawing,
it's shading detail is preserved, as in when lighting is applied for
rendering. However, when I check the Lights information there are no
lights indicated, though Materials from the original 3DS model are
    there.

When I render the AutoCAD drawing (with no lights applied), the object
that was formerly a 3DS, stands out as a nicely shaded object as if
lights are applied to it, though the other objects in the drawing
remain as they normally would if no light applied.

My question is: How can I accomplish this with an individual AutoCAD
drawing, perhaps one saved as a block?

In other words, I want to create a 3D object in AutoCAD, apply lights
for the appropriate shading that I want, then be able to insert this
object into another drawing with it's shading preserved, but without
the lights that created the shading effecting the rest of the drawing.

    Any suggestions appreciated.
