We're using AutoCAD 2000. Recently we emailed some dwgs to a vendor
who has Ver 14. They couldn't open the files. They suggested that we
save our dwg's as Ver 14. Would anyone have any ideas about this? Is
it normal for a dwg created in Ver 2000 to not open in Ver 14? Is it
possible to save a Ver 2000 dwg in Ver 14 format? Any ideas and
comments on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

    R12/R13 cannot open R14 drawings
    R14 cannot open R2000/2000i/2002 drawings
    R2000/2000i/2000 cannot open R2004 drawings
    etc, etc.

But R2004 can open any version (or at least back to Ver2.6)

File | SaveAs | Choose R14 format on the bottom of the SaveAs dialog.

Smacky, Paul...You guys are great. Obviously we're not very
adventureous around here. We never even thought of investigating the
menus in the Save As window till after reading your replies. Couldn't
have done it without you. Thanks, K.

it normal for a dwg created in Ver 2000 to not open in Ver 14?

It is ubiquitous for programs to not recognize file formats from the future.
    "Forward compatibility" is rare.
    Yes.
