I have a user with a laptop running AutoCAD 2002. It is primarily used on our network, but, occasionally it needs to run in meetings where a network connection is not available. Can it be done? If so, how so? thanks in advance.

Look into license borrowing...not sure if it's available in 2002, but know
    it is in 2004 & 2005.

It was first made available in AutoCAD 2004.

You need to downgrade a license to standalone. You cannot "check-out" /
"borrow" a 2002 license. Contact your reseller and tell him you need to
    downgrade a license to standalone.

    Hope this helps
