Repair Flattened block attributes

    I have made the mistake of using the express tools flatten routine in a waterline drawing with many blocks (valves, mainly). The blocks have all been renamed to new, unique names (from valve to valve-1, valve-2, etc.). I cannot recover the original and start again, so need to find a way to rename all of the blocks back to a single block name and retain the attributes, as they were in the beginning. Anyone written a routine to recover from this? I believe it can be done by extracting the data to a file and then reinserting, but am hoping not to reinvent the wheel here (slooooow at coding). Thanx for any info you can provide!!!!
