Make your new block in layer 0 of a new .dwg file, then open the main
drawing and INSERT <OldBlockName>=<NewBlockName>, and when prompted for the
    insertion point press ESC.

    hi,
maybe just a simple thing to do..
    I am using max.
I've been given dwg files with the location of trees. Great. think is,
each tree is a reference bloc that contains like a thousand line.
the import in max creates splines, and, since the trees are on a single
layer, a so large file that I cannot handle.

Is there any way in autocad (I use LT2005) to replace a reference of
block by another. I was thinking of replacing each tree by a simple square.

    Thanks
