xref a architectural detail from model with the detail box and all that say
at 1/2" =12'-1'-0" so it come using 1/24 into paperspace. When one goes to
adjust this via refedit in the sheet file, the dims enlarge by a factor of
that which it is brought in.

why do these dims enlarge and how to shut this off? it inhibits working
    through the refedit from paperspace

nope, just editing drawing through refedit, dims are fine, thay scale up
when accesssed through refedit from paper to model space. set it and check
    it out

no go, set it up. a model at 1:1 with dims xrefed 1/ the scale factor into
paper and refedit through it. It trying to read the drawing as 1:1 so it
    scales them up.

much research to find this solution

Did you scale the block by 24 when you brought it in?

If so, dont. Change the zoom scale factor in that viewport instead.

Blocks are not the problem, its dimension styles. It looks like you
understand the problem and thats good. is there a variable, assoc.
    dimensioning,, toggle something.

If I understand you correctly, you've inserted the detail with a scale factor of 24, and the detail used associative dims. It was fine until you redefined it using REFEDIT.

Change the linear unit scale factor in that dimstyle to 1/24

    or bette,r IMMHO, solution,

scale it back down to 1:1 and in a new viewport, zoom to 1/24XP centered on the detail.

Almost, when it gets referanced into the sheet it travels from its host file
of model to the the paper space of sheet file at 1/24 to get at down to the
detail box size size on the sheet which is thus scaled at 1/2"=1'-0".

everything is fine until youneed to do a small adjustment and refedit it. Th
dims scale up by 24and obliterate the drawing area in the sheet file

I had though that maybe assoc. dim might correct it somehow. trying not to
viewport from model and also xref but just to display right on sheet.

    You're putting it in PAPERSPACE?????

    ...er

... dont, put it in modelspace at a scale factor of 1, then in paperspace make a new viewport and zoom into the detail at 1/24xp. Place it on a detail layer, and freeze that layer in the other viewports.

    yep, highly efficient
customer files for sheet describing this procedure

the detail box size size on the sheet which is thus scaled at 1/2"=1'-0".<<

    ...until you want to refedit

Your attachment in CS failed. Anyway, no efficiency will be lost by placing them in MS instead, and then you can refedit to your heart's desire.

Opened on this end w/ CFiles, thanks for the chat, wish I could get the
    document to ya
used it in many firms for years.

Except when you need to refedit, you mean.

    Zip it prior to attaching.
