recommendations for good draft plotter

we are currently using an HP 1050C plotter for our production drawings. It
seem like more and more that our engineers are wanting to view check plots
at 1/2 scale. (11x17). We have an hp printer that does a good job at the
half size dwgs, but it is also shared with engineers and clerical. Not to
mention it is pretty slow also.

I was thinking a good solution would be to get a secondary plotter just for
the 11x17 dwgs. We could keep 17 or 18" paper rolls loaded and stop using
the clerical printer. It would also stop us from having to load different
paper sizes in our production plotter.

Getting to my question: Could anyone recommend a good 24" plotter that takes
roll feed? Network compatibilty would be a plus also.

    Looking forward to any replies,
    Mike

thanks Dean and yes I look at that, but 3 grand seems a little excessive!
I'm thinking another plotter might be nice, just to have a backup.

    Thanks again,

We generate a LOT of 11x16's in this office. We've got an older HP4-MV on the network for just that purpose. I'm not up on the latest version of HP's 11x17 laser printers.

Though they aren't cheap, I'd definitely consider laser if you can afford it. We also have a CP1700 (color ink jet) which is painfully slow generating monochorome 11x17's in any quantity.

HP makes several 24" designjet printers in the $1000 dollar range.

We have 2 HP5000's Laserjets. Multitray, no changing paper and they are
    great workhorses.

I agree and like to add:
the HP 5500Dn color LaserJet is soooo fast and has such a low cost/page compared to plotters.
