R14 snaps suddenly stop working

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by mountain352.at.netscape.net, Feb 21, 2005.

  1. Hello all,
I have an installation of R14 that was working fine. I went to use it
today and discovered that snaps aren't working. Whether I click on the
toolbar or enter the command on the command line I get something along
the lines of "Unknown command "ENDP". Press F1 for help."
Setting an object snap doesn't produce any errors but doesn't result in
a marker showing up either. Everything else seems to work fine.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail.
I don't use Autocad regularly so I don't know what to look for as a
possible cause. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well, I assume you know that "ENDP" isn't a *command* but rather a
*subcommand* that's available only when you're being prompted for a point,
as during the execution of a LINE or other object creation command. If you
attempt to issue it at any other time, you'll get the error you cite.

For running OSnaps, issue the OSNAP command, then examine the dialog box
that comes up. Click on the AutoSnap tab to set up your "markers."

  3. Ummmm...I did say I don't use Autocad regularly didn't I?
Thanks for the pointer. I was trying to snap when I wasn't actually
    drawing something.
Now excuse me while I go off and feel stupid for a awhile<g>.
    Thanks again.
