OK. I am still researching the publish features. We are running ADT 2004
and when we publish using the "plotter names in page set-up" option we are
getting the files dumped to a folder as plot files. We have gone into the
drawing where we have the saved page set-up and if we select the same set-up
it does not plot to file. The box is not checked in the plot dialogue and
the sheet will send to the plotter. So now I need to try and find out if
there are any known do's and don'ts when using this tool. I am actually in
favor of creating plot files first but while I fight that battle I need to
figure out what is going on. We have already established that I am
unfamiliar with the tool, but I am having trouble finding a good tutorial on
how to use it correctly. Are there any conflicts with publish and project
navigator or anything. I am pulling out what hair I have out trying to
trouble shoot this issue. Any Info would be appreciated. Thanks again

Most likely your PC3 file.... is set to create a PLT file. (properties,
custom settings, for the PC3 file) The PLT file box works only with
manual single file printing and is not saved with the pagename.

For me to use the publish command and PLT files I have to create another
"plt" set PC3 file for my many plotter settups. IMO plotting file
management is slowly getting out of hand especially when trying to
stream line use with pagesetup templates etc. for my users.

I agree the publish command has potential but still has some limitations
with respect PLT file creation. I would appear that the advance tab in
2005 publish has some nomenclature referencing PLT files but does not
give the user anywhere to set this output. One fix would be to have the
PLT box saved with the pagenames or allow allow it to be toggled on
within the publish command. This would work for us here as my PLT file
creation are usually in groups or drawing sets. Other areas to research,
plotting via scripting, 3rd-party solutions, autospooling plts to network.
