Product typecodes in AutoCAD drawings

Hi,

1. I would like to write typecodes in AutoCAD drawings (e.g.,
typecodes for commercial products). I would like to do this in layer
with clear annotations pointing to specific parts in the drawing, so
that the layer can be hidden if I don't want to show the codes.

2. Extract all & only typecodes from the drawing to Excel (or even
text) file. This is to make a BOM of the parts with typecode.

Do you know any methods to do this?
