processor designs

following on from my post a while ago musing about future directions of
processors for CAD here

explaining the present technical difficulties with single core processors...
also offers insight into why multi cores are coming....although it seems
these will not help CAD much without code rewrites...

And to think that one of the solutions given at SWW for poor assembly
performance was, "Get a faster CPU". A lot of time was spent on
hardware solutions to poor performance. I hit that performance wall 9
months ago and no solution of this type is on the horizon.
