Problem with attached jpg-files

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Andrea Kürzl, Jul 5, 2003.

  1. Hi, I have a problem with attached jpg-files.
I have a drawing on a piece of paper. This drawing I want to add some
    details to.
First I scan the drawing and attach it to a dwg.
Then I draw my things on it, and then I print it out.
    Now the problems:

    1.
I cannot see my lines in color white, because the background of the drawing
sheet is white too. I only can see objects in other colors. The print out is
    OK. I can see everything.
Is there a way to make the white sheet invisible? Only the white, not the
    lines on that sheet.

    2.
The drawing which I attach has a rectangular frame, which is also printed.
How can I make it invisible, since they overlap each other and make lines
within the drawing, which should not be seen.

If anyone has a solution to this problem, I would be pleased to get some
    help.

    Thank You, Andrea.

    1. This is superficial, I know but, change your screen background to
white and your white acad objects will display as black.
    2. Type -
    imageframe
    off

    That works, too.

    Good. You're welcome.
Further possibilities for the future -> put your image on a separate
layer with colour set to something dull like colour 250. As it's a
    jpeg, try playing with transparency.

No. TRANSPARENCY only works on graphics with transparent pixels.
Converting to a B&W GIF graphic will work, but then the black lines
would be invisible against the black background.
One method is to use DRAWORDER (must have the frame on, see below) and
send the image to the back. Another help is to draw using a color,
like blue. Change the color just before printing if you need the pen
    widths or colors.

Another trick is to use a graphics editor to simply reverse the JPEG
(to white on black) colors and save as PictureName-Negative.JPG
Attach that file and do your drawing. When you're finished, use the
Image Manager and browse to the original (black on white) graphic.
Then save the path, and print.

One other technique, good for 2D only, is to move the image a small
amount negative Z direction. Once there, turn off the frame so you
    can't snap to it accidentally.
