Problem with a Drive

    Hello:

    I have currently a problem when i have to open the
    Autocad and the (A: Drive ) before i open a (DWG)
    file from a Floppy and it was almost newly i started
    to work with this version = 2004 of Autocad
    and after i opened the file next time when i would want
    to use autocad it started to open from my A: and i couldn't find anyway to
    fix this problem and i want to ask
    you what should i do?

  2. Try making sure you have a floppy disk in the drive when you go to "open."
    This will stop any error message. After that just browse to wherever the
    file you want to open is.

    AutoCAD can havea habit of looking to open a new file in the same place as
    you opened the last file. This will be why it keeps trying to read from
    your A:\ drive.

    Never open a drawing that is stored on a floppy drive. Always copy the file to a hard drive.

    As McSwain said NEVER, EVER open a dwg from a floppy - you will always be
    asking for trouble. Copy it to your hard drive and open from there.

    Now that he did open the file how can he fix the problem? I mean what should
    he do to prevent AutoCAD recheck the A: drive ?

    Copy the dwg to the hard drive, open it from there and saveas to the hard drive.
