Problem Renaming Layouts via ObjectDBX

Discussion in 'AutoCAD' started by Terry W. Dotson, Feb 18, 2005.

  1. Has anyone been successful renaming layouts using ObjectDBX? I have
done a lot with ObjectDBX on other objects, but this process is failing
    with the error:

    Run-time error '-2145386282 (802000d6)'
Layout does not exist for renaming

The variable has been "Dim Layout As AcadLayout" and all the properties
including the name show fine in the watch window.

Its reasonable to assume that I could automate opening the drawing in
the editor and doing the rename, but that would be much slower and bring
    a lot of 'visual noise'.

This seems like a limitation in ObjectDBX?

    Thanks in advance,

    Terry

Terry, this is the same error raised when trying to delete a layout via
ODBX. So I believe, as you have suggested, that this is a limitation of
ODBX. It's strange that you can work with entities contained in a layout,
but trying to work with the layout itself returns errors that it doesn't
    exist........

  3. I haven't tried it but try renaming or deleting from the Blocks collection.
It makes sense that you can't do these ops when using a Layout because it
is a grahical entity. 'Course I could be totally wrong =)

  4. That doesn't seem to work either, returns the same error.
I've modified graphical entities in ObjectDBX before with no problems.

I thought of adding a new layout and transferring all the properties
from the old layout, but that doesn't seem to be working either. I can
add the new layout but I can't seem to transfer or even set properties.
