Problem installing ACAD2000 with WinXP

I've got an old copy of AutoCAD2000 which installs fine with Win 98,
2000 and NT. I've just bought a new PC which is running Windows XP
(Home Edition) with FAT32. When I try to run AutoCAD2000's setup.exe
or install.exe files, they cause the system to "freeze" and I get the
    warning window "Application not responding".
Win XP otherwise works fine. I'm guessing its a compatibility problem
between Win XP and the setup.exe file.
Is there a patch or new setup.exe file that I can download to fix this
    ?
    Thanks in anticpation

  2. You need to use Win XP Pro with AutoCAD 2000. There are some conflict issued
    with Win XP Home edition.

There is a compatability install selection on XP that you can use to install that will work just fine. It's been so
long now that I am not sure how it goes, but it's there.
    Good luck,

    Thanks !
    The compatibility install feature on Win MX doesn't fix the problem;
and I can't find a patch on Autodesk or Microsoft's web sites to fix
    it either...
There MUST be a solution out there somewhere :-(
    Any other ideas ?
    Thanks

  5. Dave,

There are some fixes and patches that should work with WinXP and ACAD
2000. I am using WinXP Pro and ACAD 2000. There seems to be a
problem with WinXP Home and ACAD 2000. Check the AutoCAD newsgroups,
there has been some ongoing messages about problems and fixes using
    ACAD 2000 and WinXP Home.
