Right now we are not using paper space.. I am trying my hardest to get that started, so for now we are coping and mirroring our drawings so we can print them to a laser printer reversed so they plot on the "back" side on Mylar.
    does that make sense?

anyways, is there a way to set AutoCAD to plot "mirrored" so you do not have to mirror the entire drawing? this will help when I force everyone to use paperspace. lol.

    thanx in advanced.

    Not using paperspace!?!?
Get them sorted out - the fools!
I'm a civils technician, mainly working on highways and drainage, ans it took me ages to convince my structural colleagues that viewports are a good thing!
As for your problem, does the printer have a setting to print mirrored?
I'm sure if you look through the menu there'll be something.

printing on Mylar because the isp and foundation stakes get abused, so paper rips and tears, Mylar slices your fingers off.

printing on legal size, to an old hp LaserJet 4... its yellow its sooooo old..

so anyway to do this in AutoCAD?

Don't know of a way to get printer or print command to reverse the image, but here's a non-eligant solution:

create a new, blank drawing (you'll use this drawing only for plotting) then xref in the orinal drawing with a scale factor of x=-1 and y=1. This will reverse the drawing left-to right and as you make changes in the original, the "plot" version will stay up to date.

Try looking under Format>Plotter Manager and double click on the .pc3 file for the printer your using. Click on <Device and Document Settings> tab, the <Custom Properties> then <Advanced> tab, the under <Advanced Paper Options> check <Mirror>

At least that works for HP Design Jet 800 plotters. Not sure what your using to plot, but hope that helps.

oh, they print it out reversed so they can manually draft on the sheets with out having to mess up the drawing when they erase.

yeah I stepped into the stone ages here. Dont even get me started on the layers.. and the lack of using them.

Why don't you just set up a view with a vpoint from underneath, like 0,0,-1?

well I might try that.. but since people I work with have never used paperspace before.. (they still think dimaso is a valid sys var)

you can kinda see my point.

I need to make this as easy as I can.

Now don't get me wrong. I love working here. just wish things were a bit more evolved..

as for the VIEW... easier then I thought.
    type VIEW
select the "Orthographic & ..." tab
    make BOTTOM current
    click OKAY
    select the view port.

    pie..
