Printer defaulting to File

I have a KIP printer that I have been printing to fairly successfuly for a
number of years now. For the past couple of months though, the "Plot to
File" check box is active by default and I keep ending up with plot files
all over my desktop while I stand at the plotter wondering what happened to
my drawing. I have no idea what change I could possibly have made to my
system that would have caused this printer to want to automatically print to
a file instead of the device, but I'm willing to try anything anyone can
    suggest.
Using MAP 2004 on WinXP Pro. Printing to KIP2000 via KIP Request software.
KIP printer is not set to print to file in Windows, it prints to the KIP0
    port.

Forget it. After tyring to deal with this (albeit, rather half-heartedly)
for some time now, I have managed to resolve the issue myself 5-minutes
    after posting here. Go figure.

    Gary -

For the benefit of those who will read your question in the
coming months, years, would you post your solution?

Sure. I was only seeing the "print to file" being defaulted to when I was
printing with the PC3 file, the Windows system device worked fine. However,
the KIP0 port to which the system printer was sending wasn't appearing when
I looked at the properties for the PC3 printer, so it was defaulting to
"File". I simply redircted the plot to be sent directly to the KIP
controller port in the abscence of a KIP0 port. Seems to work.
