i am investigating ways for our survey firm to log/track all of our drawing plots for reimbursable purposes. each print (or set of prints) has an accompanying job# & task# that has to be logged with it so we can bill for it accurately. I know AutoCAD has the built in plot.log file, but I can't figure out how to use it effectively for this purpose. anyone have experience with a particular software or system that works?

Depending upon your printer, there are a number of tools available.

Sepialine and Technesis have some excellent print management tools
which are relatively printer agnostic, and also integrate with print
management tools and accounting applications built into printers.

Oce offers embedded products within our printers, as well as external
tracking solutions as part of larger print management tools such as Oce
Repro Desk Server. These tools can be extended to work with the 3rd
    party tools mentioned earlier.

You may want to check out our product called PlotMinder
    (http://cadfx.com/pmind)

It will let you track your plots in AutoCAD to a central database and
capture what you need (even job number) transparently.
