I have some drawings which contain tiff files. I am using the windows system printer driver (from HP) for my Hp 1055cm. When I plot from Acad 2004, the image quality is great. When I print from Acad 2005, the image quality is horrible. I print using the same .pc3. Please help

Try going to the raster graphics tab of the PC3 editor. Change the raster
    quality slider control to best.

that did not improve the quality at all. The thing that gets me is that when I use the same pc3 file in Acad 2004, the image is very clear. It's got to be something with how 2005 is communicating to the plotter.

Try making a new PC3 file, making sure the top-most raster graphics slider
is all the way to the right.

See my new post. I tried making a new pc3 using a windows system printer but I get a "heidi version mismatch" error and then a "Runtime error" and then it kicks me out of the add a plotter wizard.

How did you get to the Add Plotter Wizard? Try doing it from inside
AutoCAD - tools - wizards - add plotter...

I'm guessing you were using the Plotter Manager and that there was a
shortcut to an older version of AutoCAD's Add Plotter Wizard there.

but I get a "heidi version mismatch" error and then a "Runtime error" and
then it kicks me out of the add a plotter wizard.

  8. Hi Brad:

I am an Autodesk Engineer familiar with the area in which you are having
    trouble.

With the default settings, you should theoretically be getting *better*
quality in 2005, as we did some extensive work to improve the default
qualities, especially HP devices, and for OLE objects. Since you are seeing
a degradation, there is obviously a problem we didn't anticipate, so we need
to know more about your particular settings. I have an HP 1055CM here in
the lab, I'd like to try and repro your problem here.

    Here are my specific questions.

Are you inserting the TIF file as a raster image, or as an OLE object?
Please give me your exact steps to get the TIF into your drawing so I can
replicate them. Also, what is the general content of the TIF image - text,
    photo, geometry, etc...

If raster, the quality is affected by the Raster Quality slider in the
"Raster graphics" tab of the PC3 editor, if an OLE object, it is affected by
the OLE quality slider. How are these sliders set in the PC3 file in
    question?

Have you tried this on any other printers/plotters? Do you know if it is
specific to the HP 1055CM or is more widespread?

Thanks very much for reporting this, and I look forward to helping you
    resolve it.

    Terri
