Polyline and hidden segment question

When I first draw a polyline, the grab points are on the outside of each
full length segment. However when a symbol is inserted (a window for
example), it creates a hidden segment and the grab points are now center
based to the width of the polyline. The center based grab points aren't
necesarily aligned with my grid snap. This makes it difficult to move a
wall, for example, to a new location based on snap points. What's the trick
for doing this?

I figured out that I can click the segment that needs adjusting, hit the 'R'
key, then enter the x or y coordinates that I want to "bump" my wall out to.

 

...or type h (horizontal), v (vertikal)..and all the others. W (working
point) is very useful in this coherence.
