Plotting w/ color dependant pen tables

We are a relatively new architectural office using AutoCADLT v.2004. All current CAD users in the office are used to working with color dependant plot styles. Recently someone in our office was told that we are in the "dark ages" using this method, that we should be setting lineweights independent of color. I'm assuming they mean "named" plot styles.
Is there indeed a preferred "industry standard" for plotting?
If so, I would appreciate some direction toward investigating any new procedure.

    Thanks!

this subject has been discussed many times, do a search in the news groups
,many are at great detail. I have no need for object lineweight. ctb = easy
to understand. color equals lineweight stb causes too much confusion
    imho

I would agree with the above. ctb=easy, colors mean line weight like pressure on pencil. Working drawings do not need more than eight colors for line weights and office standardization becomes easier.
