PLOTTING IMAGES FILES - RASTER 2005 DOES NOT WORK

We recently upgraded all of our offices PC's from 2002 to 2005 ACAD. We have lost the ability to work with images without errors when trying to plot to a printer or plotting to a file. The program seems to be fine until you actually select PLOT then it hangs on "Regenerating Sheet" this will stay there over 45 minutes until the user is forced to cancel. This only took about 45 seconds in 2002! I have tried a plotter, a Kip and even a new plotter fresh out of the box. Still the same result. The plots are fine until IMAGES are placed into the drawing. Then it's all screwed up. I have tested this several different ways and yet i get the same result. I am convinced this is a serious bug in ACAD 2005 software. *.jpg,*.bmp, *.png, *.tiff formats all tested and all come up with the same result. These images are being taken directly from NJ state GIS websites and are being used by a lot of CAD users all over the state. PLEASE HELP! Thanks ahead of time!

  3. I have the same problems, when a plot a file with jpg images the computer
hang on and the message is "Regenerating Sheet". The solution of this
problem isn't get the image from another site. I have image that only i
    have.

How can resolve this important problem?

This problem exists in 2005 only....we beleive. We previously used 2002 and had no problems with images from any format or size. We tried SP1 as well to no avail.

    Wbedford,
I downloaded on of those images (MrSid) from that site and had no problems
plotting it from Map 2005. Are you using pc3 files to plot with or the
system printers? Go to the plotter wizard and set up a new pc3 file and make
sure that it points to a raster supported plotter. Save it to your local
drive and test plot a dwg with a image. Your problem may be in the pc3 file
on a network or using a system printer.

    Murph,

Yes the PC3 files are ok. Each office is setup identical. They are all having the same issues. Images in CAD do not generate correctly nor do they plot correctly. The only images that will print are under 24" X36". Memory cannot be the issue as i have plenty in the workstations and the server. Which is all newer equipment (2 months old) that more than meets the minimum requirements.

Are you by any chance using dview to "twist" the image? I was having the
same problem (albeit with ECW files) using large images (aerials) that I
had rotated 2 degrees so our runways would look vertical. Drove me nuts.
finally tried without any rotation and plotted just fine. Not sure if this
is a "bug" (hate the overuse of that word), but it seems like one.

Also try modifying the image quality and transparency. If you are just printing in grey scale then neither of those will effect the look to any noticable extent.
