Does anyone know how to send multiple 11x17 or 8.5x11 drawings to a
large plotter and plot them end to end without wasting paper?

why? Maybe the OP doesn't know about nesting plots. You could explain
that to them rather than being negative. We don't all know as much as
    you obviously do...

  3. It depends on what you mean by "drawings". If you mean various viewports
from a single model in a single dwg file, you can just tile them together
    and plot all at once.

If you mean separate plots from different dwg files, I don't know.

Good reply Dave, as you said I didn't know about "nesting plots."
Unfortunatly my plotter doesn't support nesting as a menu item on the
plotter so I need another method to do it. I suppose I can't expect
clintonG to give me any pointers...

well, if you don't have built in nesting then I'd go with Michael's
suggestion and tile viewports on a sheet size that your plotter will plot

Maybe create a sheet set from multiple drawings? (If using 2005 or later)

What really is pathetic, is the fact that you are 110% wrong. That was NOT
the question. The question was HOW to send multiple drawings to a plott
WITHOUT wasting paper. He didn't even 'mention' a printer!!!!

(jesus... but you are sooooo pathetic).

Thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate it. This is a small
company and the cost of a new printer may not be out of the question
sometime in the near furture. At the pace we're growing I probably
won't have to wait too long. I wasn't given a mandate to find a way to
save paper. It is simply irksome to me to have to cut 19 inches off
and throw it away. I don't like to waste anything if I don't have to,
but my employers are indifferent about it. Their opinion is, "do what
ever is necessary to get the job done." Our plotter is an HP Designjet
500 and is fine for large plots and until they decide that a new one is
necessary, it will have to do.

I applaud your "save a tree" attitude. Do not let anything written
here by that total waste of groceries Gallagher ever put you off.

I use my Laserjet at home for many small sized check plots, but it's
only A4. Ever since the LJ3 they have handled HPGL very well and most
software will plot to them properly in this mode.

Some offices have the next size larger format of Laserjet - I would
assume that it will also do HPGL. I don't suppose you'd have one of
    those, would you?

The DesignJet 500 and some small letter sized printers are all that we
have in the office. I have a HP 9800 series printer at home that will
do B sized documents nicely, but it's at home. I was printing manuals
for some of the equipment we build and the need to print B sized
documents only comes up when we're ready to ship somthing. It would be
nice if I could nest these drawings and print two at a time in B size.
