I am not sure if this is the correct group to post this message or not
so please forgive if I am posting to the wrong group. Let me first
state that I am not a Microstation user. I just get the end results
(maps) from my mapping group and I know they are using Microstation.
The other day I gave my mapping group a file with a list of points (400
total) that I wanted overlaid on to a area map. They told me they would
do it but it would take some time as each point would have to be mapped
one at a time. My question is could these points be mapped using a
macro or batch file? The points I wanted mapped are in are coma
delimited file with the name of the point followed by the x,y
    coordinates. See Example below.

    Joe01,2464977,0584824
    John0,2449800,0574144
    Joe12,2433049,0573726
    76034,2410746,0560461

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Bill

Sure there is! There is a tool called XYZ Text. It is located under
tools>tool boxes>XYZ Text. You will need to use the 'import
coordinates' tool (big down arrow). Looking at the help file, the ascii
file to be imported (with text) may need a Z coordinate. If you are
using a 2d file, set them all to zero by first opening your comma
delimeted file in excel as a csv file then manipulate your data as
needed to meet microstation's needs. this should take less then an
    hour.
Also, remember that northing and eastings are read by microstation as
    y,x... not x,y.

Thanks for your help. I will pass that along to our mapping group I
knew there had to be an easier way to do the import.

You can also use an mdl application or coordinate geometry in civilpak.
