I understand that when using the Plot to Background feature, a second session of Acad is started for the purpose of handling the plots.

My question then is, does this backgound session take up a network license?

I can't answer for sure. But. Since a second session of Acad from the same
computer would NOT take a second license I would think that the Background
    plotting would not.

If you need confirmation do a test. Have someone background plot a large job
(so the instance of Acad stays open for a while) and check to see if a
    license is checked out.
