I need to e-mail a drawing to a Blue Print company to make copies. They request that I send it to them in a plot file for a Hp650c printer. Autocad 2000 that I use doesn't have this listed in the available printers. Is there a compatible one I can use instead.

    Thanks,

    Pat

Go to www.hp.com and get the driver for the HP650c and install it (you don't
have to have the printer to install the driver). Use that driver to create
the plot file that you will be sending out to the printing company.

I went to hp.com & downloaded the driver. This came in a zip file & I unzipped it to my unzipped files. Then I went to printer wizard to add printer. When it promts me for printer I click on have disk, then go to the unzipped file. Nothing happens.
Any Ideas how I get the unzipped file to load?

    Thanks,

    Pat

    Start>Settings>Printers and faxes>Add A Printer> Add Printer Wizard
Starts>Choose "Local printer attached....">Wizard will try to auto-detect,
click next to manually setup>Pick a port>Then Choose "Have Disk">Browse to
folder and choose the OEMSETUP.INF file>Click on Open then OK>then scroll
down to the 650 driver (I see 4 choices in the file that I downloaded so you
might want to ask your printer which one they use).

I got lost at the point where you said to click next to manually set up pick a port. My wizard doesn't give me these choses. I also read on the read me text from the downloaded driver that autcad 13 or 14 needed to be installed. I'am working in autocad 2000. Is this a problem? Iam also using windows 98.

    Thanks,

  7. You need the second download on the HP download page, not the one that says
"Application AutoCAD" (which is the ADI driver for AutoCAD 13/14 only), but
the one that simply says "Driver". This is the Windows driver that Chip
refers to. You install it as most Windows printer drivers and almost as Chip
described (Windows 98 is slightly different). Select "Local Printer", then
"Have disk" and when you are asked for a port, you select "FILE:".

The HDI driver that I referred to in my first response, is available within
AutoCAD and may be easier to load; it may also be the one that the blue
    print company prefers.

It's helpful to post info like your using AutoCAD 2000 on Windows 98 ....
I'm using AutoCAD 2004 on XP. :) Each setup will be slightly different but
the general procedure is similar. I think Govert covered your question....
if not post back with the steps you used and where your stuck. I don't have
a win98 machine here in the office but I have one at home if you can't get
    things worked out.
