    I can't get SW2004 won't open files created in 2001+.

I get this error when I try:

    D:\Engineering\CAM stuff\New Folder\nosebridge.sldprt : not processed.
    Unable to open document

The "Open" dialog window shows the preview just fine; it does open when
I select the "uneditable" clickbox in the dialog, but then I can't save
    to the current version.

How do I make my files usable on this system?

Could you install 2003 and go to that first. Call your VAR if you have
    support.

No, I do not have access to older versions.

Is this for REAL? Pppl commonly have a problem saving to older
versions so they can work at home or whatever.
Microsoft had to be sued relentlessly to provide for those who didn't
want to play his version of ball.

But not even Billy Bully ever tried to deprive anyone from upgrading to
    the current version.
In this case, I seem to be locked out of upgrading my personal skillset
    to current standards.
Brrr! It's COLD out here! Can I get back inside? Any good ol' boys
out there want to clue me as to how to get back in the club? Nobody
even told me I was gonna get kicked out....Bill....oh, BILL, c'mon man,
get over here and help out the little guy, will ya?!? Where IS my ol'
buddy Bill? Am I untouchable now, or can someone please help me get
    back into my old files?

I can open SW2001+ files in SW2004 without a problem. Perhaps you have
another issue blocking it, or your part makes use of a particular
feature of SW2001+ that is now handled in a different manner. Do you
still have SW2001+ that you can use to test its integrity within the
    version that created it?

Now now don't get your panties all up in a bunch you not SOL yet. Now if the
problem is a single part or just a couple you could send them to me and I
could try to convert them to 2003 and then 2004 for you since I still have
2003 installed for some reason. Or if you are on support then you could
talk to your VAR and they will help you get up and running. They are
normally very good about issues like this. The reason I suggested
installing 2003 if available is if there are features in your part that had
extensive changes between 2001+ and 2003 and even more to 2004 you could be
seeing what conversion problems this may pose. Anyway we will try to go get
the rope to help pull you up.

    Brenda & Corey, et. al.,

Thanks so much for the time and offering your system's resources to
    debug this thing.

    I will not crap-bomb your email(s), instead, I have uploaded 3
representative files to m a webspace of mine:

    //members.aol.com/saylerassoc/ {3 files}

    where the {3 files} are:
    NoseBridge.SLDPRT (<-esp. this)
    BASE-CABINET.SLDPRT
    BOX.SLDASM

If you can get these to open and save as 2004, I'd sure like to get
them and any assoc error log files, at: proworksamples {at} aol.com
    where: {at} <--you know what i mean.

The 2 parts i found in your directory opened fine. The assy had link errors,
because parts in the assembly were missing.
I did a test opening some SW models I have, dated 1998. They opened fine in
    SW2004.

You are in a predicament. I think if you send the files in to SW to get
them uncorrupted you will get back 2005 files. Since you are on 2004
you would have to install 2005 to deal with them. Hope your
    subscription is up to date.

  11. We went from 2001+ to 2004 (SP4.0 at the time) with no pb. Would it be a pb
    with this file?

  12. I grabbed the 3 files and opened them right up in SW2004 SP5.0 - no problem.
The nose piece is a bit funky, but it appears to be the way it's made, not
due to a conversion error. Let me know if you want the converted files.
