Typically, to call out column sizes or other specific items on plan, I use an attributed mark symbol, similar to the following (but usually rotated 45 degrees off ortho): HSS6x6x½ +------------- BASE PL 3 Actually, the block contains ONLY attributes (not lines), and in fact containes four more attributes, (two additional lines above and two additional text lines below). The indicator line work is added when the block is inserted. This has worked okay for quite some time, but I've recently been thinking that an aligned dimension with text overrides might work just as well, and save some linework fiddling when I need to rotate the mark to 135 or 225 degrees. So for a dimension I could just override the text like so: HSS6x6x½\XBASE PL 3 Quick, easy, flexible, and built-in, it seems to me. Do any of you used aligned dimensions for this type of plan callout? Why? / Why not? As for using a mark block, there really seems to be nothing sacred about the attribute tag definitions themselves (LINE1, LINE2, LINE3, ...) - other than the fact that I can use a ToolPac function to quickly copy attributes when they need to be changed. Any comments would be appreciated. Best regards, David Kozina
