i want to place points along a 3d polyline at a certain spacing. i could use the measure command but that does it in full 3d so some points will look closer than others depending on the gradients of the segments in the polyline.

    follow?

what i want it for the points to be on the line at the right z but that look spaced at the same interval in the WCS. so on the print out, they look like they are every x meters, but technically, the true distance between each point will vary.

    I hope this makes sense.

I already put code in to select the 3d polylines and iterate their vertices. I just need to know how to do this bit.

  3. Hi,

Having asked others to read your original request and maybe even work out a
solution, it is nothing more than courtesy to publish the solution when you
    find it yourself.

This also avoids some other user having to re-invent the solution later.

  4. Excuse me, but I don't really understand how you can
expect someone to publish their work, when they have
arrived at it themselves without a collaborative effort
    from the group.

While you may have a point in the case where the
problem was individually or collectively solved by one
or more others and posted publicly, when someone
ends up solving the problem themself, expecting
them to publish the solution, is a bit unreasonable.

  5. Hi Tony,

Have you never solved a problem by explaining it to someone else in the hope
    they can devise a solution?

As with nearly all posts here the solution is probably an insight rather
than swags of code. The time frame of the two posts is only 3 hours.
Normally that would not represent hundreds of lines of code.

We all post our insights regularly - probably you more than most owing to
your understanding of what you are doing.
