    This may be of help.
I found when changing the font of the Command Line, the pickbox changed into
    a rectangle.
When I changed back to the default, the pickbox became square again.

I changed my font around and nothing happened. What is the default font
anyway? Anybody have any other ideas as to why my pickbox is a rectangle?

What is the default font anyway?

Mine is set to the font Courier, font style Regular, and Size 10. I assume it is the default since I have never changed it.

    Sorry,
I just tried this again myslef and it did not change the pickbox to
    rectangle.
Hmmmm... I know it did do this before.
I called my Sales rep to inform him of a "bug".
Perhaps it was the last version of autocad.

    Sorry for the mislead.

Well here is a fix for the pickbox problem.

When AutoCAD installs it creates two directories under the NT/2000/XP profile. One is under Application Data and the other is under Local Settings\Application Data of your profile (C:\Documents and Settings..blah blah)

Delete those two directories and let AutoCAD recreate them.

This fixed the pickbox problem for me.

another temporary fix. i say temporary because it might come back. what you do is drag your command line up to the top of the screen and dock it. then drag it back to the bottom (or vise versa). i forgot how i came across this but it works every time (in 2002 and 2005) and on different machines. hope it works for you.
