I have been on the phone with a Pdmworks expert today for 2 hours, but no
    luck so far.
The problem is that if I install the vault services and the vault on my
local machine, all is well. If I install the vault services on my local
machine, but with the vault on a windows networked PC, I get an error 1069
when I try to start the pdmworks vault service. This code is not listed in
the manual. The Machines are both xp pro, new installs, default settings and
both logged in as administrator, so no permission problems that I can see.
Two baffled IT persons until Solidworks replies to our email or some kind
    person knows the answer.

Hospital report, "Ozzy Osbourne is stable after his operation". The first
time he has ever been called stable!

You will not be able to load the vault server as a service unless you have
the vault folder and the server on the same drive. I have tried many times
and just will not work. If you follow the instructions for running the vault
server on win98 or winnt then it will work. It should work as long as the
user of the vault server has permissions to the directory on the vault
computer but alas this is not the case and I have not been able to get
anyone to tell me why. I now have a dedicated computer that works as my
vault serve, vault, and my solidworks licenses server.

Like I said if you don't run the server as a service it will work across a
network. Sorry for the bad news.......

no expert here, but ... don't the services and vault go hand in hand?
in other words, doesn't the vault require it's services to be on the same
    pc?
