    Hello,

I was wondering if some of you could verify the following bug with
    PDMworks 2006 5.1 and up (inc. 2007)

Following scenerio. A checked-in assembly in the vault that consists
    of parts & subassemblies.
Try to create a report and query for all parts only in this assembly
including the parts of the subassemblies.
The quantity of the parts is wrong, in my case. PDMWorks is not able
to show an accurate count of all
    parts in the subassembly.
In order to get an accurate count, I had to make a temp assembly in
    which all subassemblies are desolved,
and create a report from that file.

Do you find the same issue? I would like to verify that bug.
Unfortunately I am not on subscription so I can
not do that myself. The same issue is found in the latest version of
    pdmw 2007.

    Thanks,

    Eman

    Pdmworks 2007 sp4.0

Report works in that the total number of, "unique", parts is correct.

I.e., if you have two M6 nuts in the assembly, it will show as one part.

In my assembly, it shows 28 items, when parts selected

The total number of parts is 39.

Please note, that weld beads etc, are counted as parts.

You need to look at the quantity column to see the numbers of unique parts
    used.

    I hope this is helpful.

    :)

    Hello Pete,

I have a 3 level assembly. Simple spoken, the top assembly consists of
2 subassembly. Each subassemly consists of two identical parts.

If I query assy & parts I get following quantity count.

    desc. qty
    sub assy 2
    part 2

This is right as 2 x 2 makes 4 parts, however if I quere for parts I
    get

    desc. qty
    part 2

This is wrong as it only shows me 2 parts, however I have 4.

    What am I missing?

The clue is in the identical parts, if I reading your statement correctly.

    sub-assembly 1
    Part A
    Part B

    sub-assembly 2
    Part A
    Part B

    Total assemblies = 2
    Total " Identical" parts = 2

    = Total 2 parts

    Or

    sub-assembly 1
    Part A
    Part A

    sub-assembly 2
    Part B
    Part B

    Total assemblies = 2
    Total " Identical" parts = 2

    = Total 2 parts

In other words, an assembly or sub-assemblies, are not parts.

    Hello Pete,

Here is what I want. I have an assembly with parts and subassemblies
    mixed together.
I want to create a report of all parts in this assembly. A master list
    of how many parts
I need, in other words, count all instance of all parts and ignore the
    fact that they are
    joined together in subassemblies.

Can PDMWorks report do that or not?

    Thanks in advance

i have confirmed using a simple assy/sub-assy/2 part example.

    assy1
    assy2(1)
    part1
    part2
    assy2(2)
    part1
    part2

displays in pdmw reporting like this
    assy1 qty1
    assy2 qty2
    part1 qty1
    part2 qty1

    never really used reporting.
not sure i understand the logic presented here.

    Hello Kenneth,

Just a question, what do you use for creating BOM
    outside Solidworks.
