    PDFCreator
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/
"PDFCreator has been great!!! It works with all the programs I've printed from... No problems with AutoCAD drawings either!"

    Acroplot
    http://cadzation.com
"Acroplot is excellent. Can't recommend it highly enough."

    Free pdf
    http://webxd.com/zipguy/freepdf.htm
"Free PDF Is my favorite. I highly recommend it. Adobe Acrobat writer has a problem with Text masks and Wipeouts, while Free PDF works flawlessly. I've done comparative tests on the same Dwg's and Acrobat either put an outline of the Text masks and Wipeouts or blacked them out. Be aware it will involve manual configuration and a little knowledge of Windows but the site provides a Configuration tutorial and NG."

These were all suggested last week on the Autodesk newsgroups as good and reliable alternatives to Adobe Acrobat. The quotes are from the people making the suggestions, not me - we use CadPublisher:
    http://www.jwgraphics.com.au/
which is highly configurable and has many other output formats.

I purchased Adobe Arcobat 6 Pro specifically because the box stated it would
convert directly to PDF from AutoCAD. It works for 2002 but guess what -
it won't do so from 2004.
